Shelter

If you are a homeless man who needs a place to stay overnight, John 3:16 Mission can help you. Our shelter doors are open to all men as long as you follow the rules.

We are not currently able to provide overnight accommodations for women.

The Mission has an overnight shelter located at 506 N. Cheyenne Ave. This is just off of North Denver Ave. in downtown Tulsa. The Mission is located across from the David L. Moss Correctional Facility (Tulsa Jail) and immediately adjacent to the IDL overpass.

What You Need to Do (Arrival and Departure)

To stay at the Mission overnight, you need to arrive before 5:45 p.m. to sign in. You need a valid identification with photo ID. You will need to have a TB card if you are with us more than a week. We can help you acquire your TB card.

  • You must be sober. You may not bring pets, weapons, alcohol, or any non-prescribed drugs or medications into the shelter.
  • Disruptive or intoxicated guests will not be allowed to stay in the Mission until they are sober and under control.
  • You will be assigned a bed according to an evening lottery before you are admitted.
  • Lights out is at 8 p.m.
  • Overnight guests must depart the Mission by 6 a.m.

Requirements

Overnight guests will attend a chapel service before the evening meal. You also will be required to shower before going to bed. The Mission has lockers for you to store your personal belongings overnight.

Meals

Overnight guests receive a meal in the evening and breakfast in the morning.

If You Work

If you work late and cannot make it in time for evening check-in, you may call the Mission to reserve a bed. Call 918-587-1187 to make a reservation. You may be required to show proof of employment.

Inclement Weather

In cases of extreme and dangerous weather (severe heat, cold, storms, etc.), the Mission typically opens more space to accommodate guests in need of shelter. Shelter can be provided any time of day during dangerous weather events.
