In late January, extreme winter weather and dangerously low temperatures impacted the Tulsa community. Our team at the Downtown Shelter stepped up in a big way to ensure no one had to face the cold alone.
Our staff at the shelter worked around the clock operating as a Warming Station to provide a safe, warm refuge for men and women seeking shelter, hot meals, clean clothing, and a place to rest during life-threatening conditions. During days of below-freezing temperatures, we served hundreds of meals and provided safe overnight shelter for more than 200 men each night.
This response was made possible through the dedication of our staff and community partners who faithfully served, prayed, and gave during our urgent need. As the temperatures dropped, hope rose through the collective efforts of our community that was determined to protect life and share God’s love when it was needed most.
