The men of our residential recovery program, New Creation, went on a retreat to Camp Egan in Eldon, OK. Camp Egan is a scenic mountain area in Oklahoma where our men go to “let go” of their worries and allow the Lord to move in their lives. Despite enduring cold weather throughout their retreat, the men cherished moments of camaraderie, laughter, and peace in the presence of the Lord.
“The trip to Camp Egan was amazing,” said New Creation student Anthony Wallace. “It was my first time going on a camp retreat and just going with all these brothers and seeing that we can be unified as one mind and spirit praising God was really special.”
The New Creation program ended the retreat with what is known as the “Cross Walk” experience where each student created a list of sins and/or hindrances that they wanted to overcome in their lives. This experience ended with worship and each of the men opening their hearts to the Lord. Our men’s recovery program director James Hudgins says, “This was the perfect ending to a retreat. The students were so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this life-altering event. We pray that this fresh hunger for knowing Christ will continue back at the Refuge.”
