Mock Interviews at the Refuge

Last month, students in our New Creation and Renew residential recovery programs took a big step forward on their journey toward lasting change. Through a series of mock interviews held at the Refuge, they practiced building the skills and confidence needed to navigate real-world job interviews. These sessions were more than just practice—they were powerful moments of growth and preparation for what comes next.

Many of our students face unique challenges when reentering the workforce, including limited work experience or long periods of unemployment. That’s why opportunities like these are so important. Practicing interviews in a supportive, realistic setting helps them develop the communication skills, professionalism, and self-assurance needed not only to secure a job—but to thrive and grow in it.

With the help of staff and some dedicated volunteers, the interviews felt authentic while still maintaining a safe space for students to learn. Each mock interview was a step closer to reclaimed purpose, stability, and hope for the future.
