Last month, something special happened right here at John 3:16 Mission. For 24 hours straight, our CEO, Steven M. Whitaker, joined Mission leaders, public officials, recovery students, shelter guests, and community members for Conversations on a Bench, a live-streamed event focused on real talk about real issues.
Throughout the day and night, people opened up about their experiences with homelessness, addiction and mental health. There were smiles, laughter and moments of raw honesty. It was all a powerful reminder that hope grows when people take the time to listen, connect, and care for one another.
We are thankful to everyone who stopped by the bench, tuned in online, or gave to support this work. Your involvement reminds us that Tulsa is a community that truly shows up for its neighbors. Together, we’re building something stronger, one conversation and one act of compassion at a time.
