Summer Kids Camp Graduation
These Summer KIDS Say a Big “Thank You!”

Did you know John 3:16 Mission has a successful program that helps struggling children learn to read better? Called Summer KIDS Camp (SKC), the program takes children grades K-4 and provides them with innovative and fun reading instruction for 8-weeks every summer.
This summer’s program saw 97 students complete the program with improved literacy skills – thanks to you! Without your support – prayers and funding – SKC would not continue to be the powerful and life changing program it has become since it started in 1999. Taught by accredited teachers and college interns, SKC has the following goals:

• Rapid improvement in reading and spelling skills so each student may be able to reach their respective grade    level and beyond.
• Corresponding improvement in reading comprehension.
• Character development lessons to better equip each child with a sound moral and and ethical foundation.

Testing results are not yet in, but last year’s testing showed the students, on average, improved their reading skills by .739 grade years – the equivalent of over seven months of classroom instruction! As a reward for their hard work, students get to attend a 3-day lakeside camp. The Mission thanks all those who helped to sponsor Summer KIDS Camp 2015 through their generous donations. Principal sponsors include: The George Kaiser Family Foundation, The Temple Foundation, The H.A. & Mary K. Chapman Foundation and others for their generosity.
