summer kids camp
This 8-week literacy program held during the summer helps at-risk children K-4th grade who are struggling with their reading and math skills. Graduates from this course are given the opportunity to attend a 3-day children's camp.

The program, with a total enrollment of up to 100 students, is open to applicants from the community who demonstrate a need for literacy improvement as well as a commitment to complete the program.

Started in 1999, SKC offers literacy classes in the morning followed by Bible based character development sessions in the afternoon. The phonics-based curriculum is taught by accredited teachers and college interns. Test results show students improving by as much as a half grade level in reading. Graduates from this course receive a certificate and are given the opportunity to attend an overnight camp. They also receive certificates, backpacks, pants and school supplies at the end of the program.
